Pfaff PCS files

PCS is an older Pfaff format. Unlike most formats, it stores the absolute position of each stitch, in units of 0.06 mm rather than the usual 0.1 mm.

What it keeps

Stitch positions, moves, colour stops and exact colours.

What it can't hold

Trims. Rounding to 0.1 mm can also move a stitch by a tiny fraction of a millimetre when you convert away from it.

What to watch for

Hoopbench opens PCS but does not write it, so you can only convert away from it.

Best for

Reading old files so that you can bring them into a current format.
